【摘要】:Thispracticeisdesignedtolocatethethinnestportionsofthezinccoatingonnewlycoateditems(seeAppendixX1).Variationsincoatingthicknesscanbeduetotheprocessbywhichthezincisapplied(hotdipped,electroplated,orsprayed)orbythegeometryofthepartthatiscoated.Duringhot-dipgalvanizing,thecoatingthicknessisaffectedbythedrainagepatternofthemoltenzinc,whileduringzincspraying(metallizing),coatingthicknesscanbedependentontheoperator’manipulationofthespraynozzle.Thegeometryofthepartcanalsoinfluencecoatingthicknessespeciallyduringhot-dipgalvanizing,wherepeaksandvalleysonthepartcancausemoltenzinctobuilduporthinout.Thispracticeisdesignedtoidentifythoseareasofthepartwherethecoatingisthin.1.1Thispracticecoverstheprocedureforlocating,bytheuseofasolutionofcoppersulfate,thethinnestspotinazinccoating(hotdipped,electroplated,orsprayed)onironorsteelarticlesthatarecoatedaftertheshapeisproducedbycasting,drawing,pressing,orotherformingmethods.Examplesare:electricalmetallictubingandrigidconduitpipe,castingsandforgings,andstructuralsteel;onspecialhardware,suchaspoleline,builder's,andfarmimplementhardware;bolts,nuts,screws,andothermiscellaneousgeneralhardware.1.2Theuseofthispracticewithzinccoatingdepositedthroughdifferentprocesses(suchashotdipped,electroplated,orsprayed)requirescautionininterpretationsincetheendpointmayvaryconsiderablybetweendifferentzinc-coatingsystems.1.3Excludedfromthispracticeissheetsteelfromhot-diporelectrocoatinglinesasthesheetproductsarenormallysubjecttoadditionalformingafterthecoatingprocess.Alsoexcludedfromthispracticeareallzinc-coatedwireandwireproductseithercontinuouslyorbatchcoatedbeforeorafterforming.Warning8212;Pastresearch(datingfromaround1963)hasindicatedthatthispracticecanbeinfluencedbyoperatortechnique.Variationscanbeduetothedifferenceinhandpressureusedtowipethesampleortheinabilityoftheoperatortorecognizetheendpoint.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
